The 70s impresses with its retro design, sophisticated mechanics and exquisite craftsmanship.

The square stainless-steel case, with its gently rounded corners, hints at its connection to the Seventies family, albeit in a smaller format: the 70s measures 39 x 39 mm and is just 9.6 mm thick. The silver-colored dial is inspired by the analogue hi-fi systems of the 1970s, which not only represented the absolute pinnacle of sound quality but also became true icons of mid-century design. The surface of the dial features a subtle hexagrid pattern, which creates a sense of visual depth. The hour and minute hands, as well as the hour markers on the 70s ‘Stereo Panel’, are crafted from solid gold, coated in black and treated with SuperLumiNova®. A date window at 3 o’clock completes the harmonious design of the dial and blends seamlessly into its distinctive aesthetic.

The model is available with either a stainless-steel bracelet or a black rubber strap featuring a subtle embossed pattern. Both metal bracelet and rubber strap are fitted with Glashütte Original’s patented Groove Lock System, which is used here for the first time. It consists of a specially developed connecting element on the case and a matching clasp, both of which can be swapped without the need for tools. This allows the bracelet or strap to be changed in the blink of an eye and adapted to suit any occasion.

The basis for this 70s model is the in-house Caliber 36-11, which was developed with the demands of modern life in mind. A silicon balance spring ensures the utmost precision, whilst a single spring barrel guarantees a power reserve of at least 100 hours at a frequency of 4 Hz. The sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the intricately finished automatic movement, revealing the characteristic three-quarter plate with its precise stripe finish, the elaborately hand-engraved balance cock and the finely decorated winding chain.
