Portugieser Automatic Year of the Horse

The Portugieser Automatic 42 Year of the Horse features a stainless steel case, a burgundy dial and golden hands and appliques. The IWC-manufactured 52011 caliber's oscillating mass is crafted in the shape of a galloping horse, paying tribute to the Lunar New Year. IWC Schaffhausen welcomes the Year of the horse with a special edition of its Portugieser Automatic 42. Limited to 500 pieces, the timepiece features a 42-millimeter stainless steel case with a slender side profile. Box-shaped sapphire crystals on the front and the back add to its, refined and elegant appearance. The watch impresses with a striking burgundy dial. Burgundy symbolizes the vibrant color of fire, traditionally used to welcome the New Year in China. The balanced dial layout with the small seconds at 9 o’clock and the power reserve display at 3 o’clock dates back to the first Portugieser Automatic from 2000. An additional detail is the date window, which has been discreetly placed at the 6 o’clock position. Inside the case, the IWC-manufactured 52011 caliber is at work. Its efficient Pellaton winding system features components made of virtually wear-free ceramic. Using movements of the rotor in both directions, it builds up a power reserve of 168 hours (7 days) in two barrels. A glance through the sapphire glass case back reveals another highlight: the gold-plated rotor crafted in the shape of a galloping horse. The Portugieser Automatic 42 Year of the Horse is delivered with a black and a burgundy aligátor.
