In 2023, Cartier revisits the Tank Américaine, providing it with some updates that accentuate the shape and minimalism of the iconic model.

Introduced in 1987, the Tank Américaine took inspiration from the Tank Cintrée, incorporating the latter's unique curved case design. After several reinterpretations over the last 36 years, Cartier is now revisiting the Tank Américaine, improving the original design and emphasizing the curved shape with more refined and sporty lines. The purity of the watch's shape is further accentuated by the classic style of the dial and the perfect integration of the brancards into the extension of the bracelet.

The most visible changes compared to their predecessors reside in thickness, as the new models are thinner: 8.6 mm thick compared to 9.5 mm in the previous generation. The new Tank Américaine is available in numerous options, including gold or steel cases with a leather strap; rose gold and diamonds with a leather bracelet or white and rose gold with diamond pavé and a metal bracelet specially designed for the Tank Américaine, with links that feature polished facets.

The touch of style that makes the new models very contemporary, compared to previous versions, is the choice of a satin silver dial with sunray decoration (in the small and mini declinations) or vertical brushed finish (in the large model) that fits in with the stylistic codes of modern Cartier watches. 

The new Tank Américaine line for 2023 includes a total of 11 watches in three sizes: mini (28 x 15.2 mm), small (35.4 x 19.4 mm) and large (44.4 x 24.4 mm). While the small and mini models use quartz movements, the two large size versions are equipped with the new automatic caliber 1899 MC, designed for thinner cases. The new Tank Américaine also debuts the first adjustable bracelet adapted to the famous folding clasp whose patent Cartier registered in 1910.
