Iconic shape

In the centenary year of the iconic Meisterstück, Montblanc could not fail to pay tribute to one of the most emblematic versions of this legendary pen: the 149.

100 years ago, Meisterstück was born, a range of luxury fountain pens designed to be more than just a writing instrument, if 'Meisterstück' weren't the German word for 'masterpiece'. Since then, there have been several versions of this iconic and revered collection.

The Meisterstück 149, introduced in 1952, became an instant classic with its emblematic cigar shape, the silhouette of which remains unchanged to this day. The frame, cap and body of this fountain pen are made of precious black resin, while the fittings, clip and rings are gold-plated.

The Meisterstück 149 has a traditional fixed piston mechanism and a gold nib with a partially rhodium-plated mask. It is engraved with '4810', referring to the altitude of Mont Blanc in meters, while the white star on the top of the cap symbolizes the mountain's snow-capped summit with its six glaciers.
